Series 4 – Water Blind

SERIES 4
Water Blind

Welcome to the 4th Series of the National Amateur Retriever Championship! We are still at the Knowles property in Clinton, ME.

It is currently 70 degrees and cloudy.

Series 4 is a Water Blind.

A hen mallard is placed 190 yards from the line. Handlers will kick their dogs off from the same location as the 3rd Series’ honor mat. The running mat faces southeast and there is a 9 mph crosswind, with frequent 15 mph gusts.

The line to this blind requires the dog to clip a piece of thick cover before angling into a second piece of cover. 140 yards from the running mat, the dog enters the water, angling toward the far shoreline. Once out of the water, the dog must carry the line 10 more yards where the bird is placed at the base of a brushy tree.

This test is taking approximately 3 minutes to complete.

Good Morning! – Day 3

Good morning from Day 3 of the National Amateur Retriever Championship!

This morning we’ve returned to the Knowles’ property to run the remaining 29 dogs on the 3rd Series Water Triple.

Currently, it is a cool 57 degrees, cloudy, with a steady 5 mph south wind. It’s been drizzling for the last hour, but it’s expected to stop soon. Today it is expected to remain cloudy and reach 74 degrees.

We have a single test dog this morning, and then we will begin running the remainder of the 3rd Series directly after.

Yesterday, this test proved to be quite tough. Let’s see if today’s change in weather conditions brings different results.

Best of Luck to All!
