Good Morning! – Day 6

Good morning on Day 6 of the National Amateur Retriever Championship!

This morning we are back at Mike Coutu's property to run the 7th Series of this event.

Currently, it is 67 degrees with mostly cloudy skies, and an 4 mph wind coming from NNE. High temps are expected to reach up to 79 or 80 degrees today – so not nearly as hot as it has been the last few days thankfully!

We are just finishing running the test dogs this morning, and the 7th Series will be under way soon!

There will be gun changes today after dog #'s 96 and 41.

Good Morning! – Day 6

Good morning and welcome to Day 6 of the National Amateur, and Day 3 of the 5th Series Land / Water Quad. 

We've been up against very challenging weather - high temps and humidity have forced us to shut down early the last 2 days, all in the name of dog/handler safety.

 

This morning’s weather conditions are very similar to the last couple of days. It is already 79 degrees, with sunny skies, 1 mph SW wind and 88% humidity. High temperatures are expected to reach 95 degrees today with 98% humidity and a chance of thunderstorms as the day goes on. There is another Excessive Heat Warning in the area, so safety will be a #1 priority.

Good Morning! – Day 5

Good morning! Day 5 brings us back to the Coutu property to finish the 5th Series Land / Water Quad. 

This test has proved to be challenging so far! This morning’s conditions are very similar to yesterday. It is currently 72 degrees, and quite humid. It is expected to reach 95 degrees today and remain sunny. 

SPECIAL NOTE: We have a bit of a delay on running the test dog this morning due to sun.

Good Morning! – Day 4

Good morning on Day 4 of the National Amateur Retriever Championship!

This morning we are at Mike Coutu's property to run the 5th Series Land/Water Quad.

Currently, it is a temperate 68 degrees with mostly cloudy skies, and not very much wind to speak of. There is a heat advisory in effect today, as temps are expected to reach into the 90's. It's going to be a hot one today! So heat safety is definitely going to be especially important today.

We have just finished running the test dogs this morning, and the 5th Series is officially under way!

Good Morning! – Day 3

Good morning from Day 3 of the National Amateur Retriever Championship!

This morning we’ve returned to the Knowles’ property to run the remaining 29 dogs on the 3rd Series Water Triple.

Currently, it is a cool 57 degrees, cloudy, with a steady 5 mph south wind. It’s been drizzling for the last hour, but it’s expected to stop soon. Today it is expected to remain cloudy and reach 74 degrees. 

We have a single test dog this morning, and then we will begin running the remainder of the 3rd Series directly after.

Yesterday, this test proved to be quite tough. Let’s see if today’s change in weather conditions brings different results.

Good Morning! – Day 2

Good Morning Everyone and Welcome to Day 2 of the 2024 National Amateur!

This morning we are going to be starting the 3rd Series. The test dogs are scheduled to run at 7:15 am, and then our first running dog at 8:00 am (Dog #76).

The conditions today are expected to be mostly sunny clear skies with a high around 75 degrees, and very little wind. Conditions will be updated as the day goes on. Good Morning!

Good Morning Everyone and Welcome to the 2024 National Amateur Retriever Championship! 

This morning we are kicking off the event at the 1st and 2nd series test location. The test dogs will be running at 7:10 am, then we will have the National Anthem and be ready to begin! The morning has started out cloudy with temps currently at 60 degrees, with an expected high around 70. Partly cloudy conditions should give way to clear and sunny skies expected this afternoon. We will update you with changing conditions as the day goes on. For now, stay tuned as we prepare to begin the 67th National Amateur Retriever Championship!

99 Dogs will Start this 1st and 2nd Series. (4 dogs have Scratched: 51, 54, 91, 102)
